I am the greatX2 grandson of sook, her real name is Margaret Turner, and logan, russell, and major are her youngest children, her oldest, George Turner, can be found in the Tremont cemetery. Victoria Wilkerson is the mother in law of George Turner, and her daughter Birdie Wilkerson is also buried in tremont next to George. Sook can be found in historical text as Margaret Turner, common law wife to William Marion Walker of Tremont.
ReplyDeleteSir, do you mind if I ask whether Margaret (Sook) was Black? I know of someone who is doing research into African Americans in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park area and she has been interested in finding out more about this family.
